Shape Patterns
Shape Patterns is a shapes sequencing game. Complete the pattern of different coloured 2D shapes. There are three levels of difficulty.
2D Shape Reveal
An interactive whiteboard resource to help with the teaching and learning of the names and properties of 2D shapes.
Shape Monsters
This game provides a fun introduction to 2D shapes for young children. They need to feed the monsters with the correct shapes, after which the monsters say the name the shape they've eaten. The shapes are circle, rectangle, square and triangle.
Shifting Shapes
Can you name the 2D and 3D shapes? The game from ictgames has a draggable torch shining on a hidden shape. You can move the torch to guess the name of the shape and then click the 'eye' to see if you were right.
2D Shapes Sorting Using Carroll Diagrams
Sort 2D shapes on Carroll diagrams. There are four levels of difficulty and sorting is by two variable criteria. Squares are classed as rectangles as they are special case rectangles.
Sorting 3D Shapes on a Venn Diagram
An activity where you use a Venn diagram to sort a variety of 3D shapes according to their properties, including: whether they are pyramids or prisms, the number of faces, edges and vertices and whether they have a curved surface.
Geoboard by Didax
You can create all sorts of 2D shapes with the bands on this Geoboard. There are two grids to choose from: circular and rectangular.
Geoboard
A wonderful teaching resource for exploring shapes. Choose from three different geoboard designs and stretch out the bands to make your shapes.
2D Shapes Class Clips
Short video clips on 2D shapes from the BBC designed for classroom use.
Pattern Blocks
Have fun making your own shapes and tessellating patterns or see if you can complete the pattern puzzles.
