In early March both male and female frogs find a pond where they can mate. The male frog holds the female around her middle while she lays her frogspawn in the water.

As the spawn is laid he fertilises it so that tadpoles will develop.

If you find frogspawn in your pond, experts say you shouldn't move it to a different pond as you could be moving diseases around.
