Adding Two-Digit and One-Digit Numbers, with Carrying

This worksheet uses pictorial representations of Dienes tens and ones blocks to help children who are moving on in their addition skills from just adding single digit numbers. All the examples involve adding a two-digit number to a one-digit number and all require carrying a ten.

With the support of Dienes blocks children are able to visualise tens and ones and this can enhance their understanding of place value. This worksheet is intended for use before the numerical method is introduced for the same type of addition.
