Write and Order Seven-Digit Numbers

This activity provides a good assessment of children's understanding of place value. There’s lots of scope to make seven-digit numbers, using small cubes to represent 12 beads on an abacus, and then write these as numerals. The ordering process is useful to see if they recognise the relative value of each digit when dealing with larger numbers.
