Easter Bunny
Rabbits and hares have been associated with springtime since ancient times because they symbolise fertility and new life. One tradition links the Anglo-Saxon spring goddess Eostre with a hare. Over time, the hare became part of the Easter Bunny tradition.
The story says that the Easter Bunny leaves Easter eggs on Easter Sunday. Children go on an egg hunt in the garden to find where the eggs have been hidden.
German immigrants took stories of an egg-laying hare to America in the 1700s. Children made nests using their caps and bonnets, hoping that the Easter hare would leave them coloured eggs.
