Make a Mother’s Day Flower Card

This fun and easy Mother’s Day card is perfect for spring. Adapt it with different colours so that children can get creative and personalise it for Mum.

You will need

• A card base in your choice of colour and size
• Tissue paper—choose Mum’s favourite colour or reuse clean packaging
• Scissors
• Glitter
• White PVA glue and a glue stick
• Buttons or sticky gems for the flower centres
• Green paper or ribbon for stems and leaves
• A felt-tip pen or sticker for the greeting

What you do

1. Cut out plenty of tissue-paper circles. You will need around six to ten for each flower, depending on how full you want it to be. Larger flowers usually need more layers.

   The circles do not need to be perfect. Once you have one, use it as a rough guide for the others. Layer smaller circles on top of larger ones.

   
2. Fold a piece of scrap paper in half and put a little glitter in the fold. Place a small puddle of PVA glue on a paper plate or scrap card, then lightly roll the edge of each tissue circle in the glue.
3. Roll each glued edge in the glitter. Gently tap the circle over the folded paper to remove excess glitter, then leave all the petals to dry for a few minutes.
4. While the petals dry, make your card base and cut out green stems and leaves. Gently scrunch a large tissue circle to give it a wavy edge, add glue in the centre and layer another circle on top. Keep scrunching and layering until the flower is full.
5. Add a button or sparkly gem to the centre with a small dab of PVA glue. You could use a little circle of yellow card instead.
6. Stick the stem, leaves and flower to the card front. Finish with a handwritten greeting to Mum or add a suitable sticker.
