Autumn Berries

In the hedgerows there are lots of berries. Some people like to pick the blackberries to eat.

Always let a grown-up show you which berries you can eat. Birds eat berries like haws, rose hips and elderberries in autumn and winter when there is less food to eat.

The bright berries are easy for birds to see. They eat the juicy part of the berry but the seeds come out in the bird's droppings and often grow into new plants.
